Abstract:
Modes propagating and resonating in a structure consisting of a section of R26 rectangular waveguide that houses a noncontacting brick-shaped shorting plunger have been analyzed with the assistance of an electromagnetic field solver. Effects of plunger waggle have also been investigated. Spurious resonances of modes trapped within the plunger-filled section deteriorate the short performance. The analysis serves as a preliminary work in an attempt to design a resonance-free noncontacting sliding short.
