Abstract:
The performance of a novel antenna designed to work on a ground plane with a wide frequency bandwidth is presented. The antenna uses two low profile elements that are fed via a single microstrip line. The overall height of the antenna was 7 mm and the base was 86 mm x 54 mm. A bandwidth of 2:1 is attained which is good for an element on a ground plane but now sufficient for UWB applications. The resulting radiation patterns are satisfactory across the band from 5 GHz to 10 GHz.
