Abstract:
Transmission lines loaded with reactive components that have left handed wave behaviour have been applied to many forms of antennas to investigate the new properties that these antennas have. In some cases new features in the performance arise, such as the ability of a series fed array to scan through broadside. In many other cases, such as size reduction in microstrip patches, performance is similar to other antenna configurations. Left handed transmission has
also been applied to conventional wire types, such as dipoles and loops. This paper will review the work in this area and This paper will review the work in this area and draw conclusions concerning the comparison with other antenna types.
