Abstract:
This paper presents the design of a low profile Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) omnidirectional antenna having a sharp frequency band notch at the frequency band ranging from 5 GHz to 6 GHz. The proposed antenna consists of an elliptical form element top loaded by a circular hat which is shorted to the circular ground plane by two symmetrical wires. The notch filtering is realized by inserting two half wavelength thin arc shaped slots with different resonant frequencies which couple together to form a wider frequency bandwidth with sharp rejection.
