Abstract:
The design of a novel reconfigurable antenna for MIMO systems is presented. Simulation and experimental results shows its capabilities in a multibeam reconfiguration in a 4p steradians environment. It can allow an enhancement in wireless communication employing multipath channel combining with a radiation pattern diversity. The antenna structure consists of a cubic cavity with slots on each faces fed by a monopole. Short-cutting the slots, a beam steering can be achieved. Simulations show the radiation pattern with a 5dBi gain. Results of a prototype working at 5,25GHz are also presented. Moreover, polarization diversity will be introduced with simulations of a modified antenna.
