Abstract:
Monitoring of transient soil moisture profiles yields valuable insight into soil hydraulic processes. A recently developed reconstruction algorithm allows to derive water content profiles along extended moisture probes from Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) signals in time domain. The algorithm is based on inverse modeling of parameter distributions along a numerical transmission-line. The method named Spatial TDR will be explained and practical applications presented, aiming at monitoring spatial and temporal evolution of soil moisture.
