demonstrate the correlation of simulation and measurement for high speed digital design
at DesignCon 2016, Booth # 627.
New technologies such as DDR 4 and in particular SerDes are pushing electronics to higher speeds.
This has increased the need for 3D electromagnetic field simulation in the design process to identify
and help avoid signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) issues. To simulate devices accurately,
design engineers working in this field require accurate broadband models for interconnects and
transmission lines, which need to include effects such as conductor surface roughness and
dispersion in dielectric materials. Being able to validate the results against benchmarks increases
the engineer’s confidence in the simulation.

Darmstadt, September 3 2015, CST® - Computer Simulation Technology AG (CST) in collaboration with the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics Research IGD, will demonstrate how the emerging technology of immersive virtual reality can be used in the EM design workflow and integrated with its flagship electromagnetic simulation tool, CST STUDIO SUITE® 2015, at European Microwave Week (EuMW) on September 8 2015, booth 311.
CST STUDIO SUITE is used by engineers and researchers across a wide range of fields to model electromagnetic systems and optimize designs. In order to allow it to be used in as many design workflows as possible, CST supports its powerful electromagnetic and multiphysics solvers with import/export tools for a wide range of CAD and EDA formats, and with a visualization engine that can plot field propagation and radiation patterns in full 3D. At European Microwave Week 2015, CST will demonstrate how next generation technologies such as virtual reality will also be entering the EM design process in the near future and how these technologies can be used to supplement simulation.
Virtual reality is still thought of as a platform for games and entertainment, but also offers advantages for engineers who need to visualize complex behavior in their device. Using software developed in cooperation with Fraunhofer IGD, CST will demonstrate how immersive virtual reality can be used to explore coupling paths on a complex PCB in order to identify the sources of EMC issues such as cross talk more simply. Visitors to the CST booth can try on a pair of Oculus Rift goggles and fly through a CST STUDIO SUITE simulation of a PCB in an enclosure in order to quickly and intuitively identify couplings.

San Francisco, CA, June 9, 2015 – Computer Simulation Technology (CST) demonstrates an innovative workflow that combines the full wave simulation and extraction capabilities of CST STUDIO SUITE® with the accuracy of Synopsys HSPICE® at booth #2827 during DAC 2015.
Engineers concerned with the design of modern electronic systems can take advantage of this new workflow. It enables the combination of an industry-standard circuit simulator, HSPICE, with the accurate full-wave extraction of 3D components and interconnects performed by CST STUDIO SUITE.
In the center of this workflow is CST DESIGN STUDIO™, the block schematic tool at the heart of CST STUDIO SUITE. In chip-package-board co-design, an engineer can model a full channel system by linking blocks together. These blocks can represent circuits, IBIS models, 3D elements such as connectors, flip-chip or BGA, and - with CST STUDIO SUITE version 2015 - arbitrary HSPICE models. All these blocks can then be simulated together as a system. The CST University Publication Award recognizes the importance of work from university researchers and academics by granting winners of the award extensions and upgrades to their CST STUDIO SUITE® installations.
For papers to be considered in the award, they must meet three conditions: they must be authored or co-authored by university researchers, they must have been published either in scientific journals or conference proceedings, and the numerical results must be entirely or partly obtained through simulations using CST software.
Submissions are evaluated on a number of criteria, including originality of application and theory, clarity of presentation, and the skillful use of CST software. A special award is also given for short papers, of four pages or less, to acknowledge the importance of short conference papers in promoting practical applications of simulation.
“Universities are exploring new and exciting fields of electromagnetic research.
