Computer Simulation Technology (CST) announces the addition of Filter Designer 2D to CST STUDIO SUITE®, allowing the synthesis, electromagnetic simulation, optimization and multiphysics analysis of filters in one single environment.

Planar filters are widely used by engineers developing low-cost or compact printed electronics for applications such as networking, communication and signal processing. For these filters, the design process typically has two stages. The first step is selecting an appropriate filter topology from a synthesis tool or textbook and calculating the filter coefficients that match the specification. The second step is analyzing and fine-tuning the filter through simulation or prototyping to ensure that it operates correctly when installed.

Built on Nuhertz Technologies’ well-reputed and mature technology, Filter Designer 2D’s integration into CST STUDIO SUITE means the full workflow can now be carried out with a single tool.

Planare Filter werden häufig von Ingenieuren verwendet, die kostengünstige oder kompakte gedruckte Elektronikteile für Anwendungen in der Netzwerktechnik, Kommunikation und Signalverarbeitung entwickeln. Der Entwicklungsprozess für diese Filter besteht normalerweise aus zwei Schritten. Im ersten Schritt geht es darum, die passende Filterstruktur mit einem Synthesetool oder aus entsprechender Fachliteratur auszuwählen und die Filterkoeffizienten zu berechnen, die zur jeweiligen Spezifikation passen. Der zweite Schritt besteht darin, den Filter durch Simulation oder durch den Bau eines Prototyps zu analysieren und zu perfektionieren, damit er korrekt funktioniert, wenn er eingebaut ist.

Tampa, Florida, June 3, 2014 – Computer Simulation Technology (CST) announces new features to automate workflows for field source coupling and multiphysics simulation using its System Assembly and Modeling (SAM) framework at MTT-S IMS, booth #1423 .

Since 2012, CST has offered the ability to link together multiple simulation and post-processing tasks using the SAM framework in its EM simulation software, CST STUDIO SUITE. The 2014 release of CST STUDIO SUITE builds on this with features that automate the creation of SAM projects for common design tasks, such as antenna placement, emissions analysis and thermal detuning.

Multiphysics workflows, which combine full-wave EM simulation with thermal simulation, can now be created using the wizard from the schematic view in CST STUDIO SUITE. This means that all the solvers are set up and connected, and the entire simulation started with a single click. For simulations with temperature dependent materials, SAM allows simulations to be iterated until convergence is achieved.  Mechanical simulations can be easily added to the workflow, allowing expansion and detuning effects to be calculated. All solvers are integrated in the same parametric 3D modelling GUI, making parameter studies and optimisation runs including EM-thermal couplings possible.

February 25, 2014 – Computer Simulation Technology (CST), Darmstadt, announces a new office in Warsaw, Poland, strengthening the sales and support channels for their electromagnetic (EM) simulation tools in the Baltic region.  

The new CST branch office has been established to enhance the company’s operations in Poland and will focus on offering a local, personalized approach to addressing the EM simulation needs of industry and academia. It will be the hub for sales efforts in the Baltic region and provide expert technical support to existing users.

December 19th, 2013 – Computer Simulation Technology (CST), Darmstadt, announces winners of the CST University Publication Award 2013, an annual grant to university institutes and researchers for published papers related to 3D electromagnetic field simulation applications.

Darmstadt, Germany and Stellenbosch, South Africa, October 3, 2013, CST - Computer Simulation Technology AG (CST) and MAGUS (Pty) Ltd (MAGUS) are developing new tools for linear antenna arrays including feed networks, to launch with the newest version of Magus’ flagship product Antenna Magus. These features will be previewed at European Microwave Week (EuMW) 2013, booth #103.

Engineers involved with planar arrays often estimate the performance of the array from single elements, using array synthesis methods to determine the number of elements required, their spacing and the relative excitations. Although this approach provides a good starting point, it does not include a number of practical effects, such as mutual coupling, or the influence of the feed network – and indeed, the actual layout of the feed network.

Darmstadt, Germany and Espoo, Finland, October 2, 2013, CST - Computer Simulation Technology AG (CST) and Optenni Ltd (Optenni) are collaborating to provide engineers with design tools for MIMO antenna optimization. These tools for multiport matching will be demonstrated at European Microwave Week (EuMW) 2013, booth #103, and in a free webinar on October 24.

Multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) antennas are a fundamental part of many next-generation communication standards, promising high data rates and good reliability in multipath environments. Miniaturization and antenna diversity mean that designing efficient MIMO antenna systems can be difficult. For this reason, CST and Optenni are working to improve the design flow for MIMO systems and make it easier for engineers to optimize their MIMO designs.
