European User Conference 2012

The CST European User Conference 2012 (formerly CST European User Group Meeting) offers an informal and enlightening environment where engineers using CST STUDIO SUITE® tools can exchange ideas and talk with CST staff about future developments.

CST's user group meetings have benefited from many interesting and varied presentations from users working in industry, research and educational institutions, as well as CST's own simulation experts. Most of these presentations have been made available for download from our website with the permission of their authors who we would like to thank.

The CST EUC venue is located in the city center of Mannheim, 70 km from Frankfurt in in a southwesterly direction. Mannheim is one of the most important commercial cities in southwestern Germany. First mentioned in 766 A.D., the city became an important industrial centre due to the favourable location of the River Rhine and River Neckar. Today Europe’s largest inner harbour is situated here.

One of Mannheim’s most famous buildings is the Mannheim Palace which was built between 1720-1760 under Elector Carl Philipp. It is one of the largest baroque palace in the world.

Some very important inventions originate from Mannheim: The first modern bicycle was built here by Karl Drais in 1817. Another historical achievement was developed in Mannheim’s suburb Landenburg. In 1886 Carl Benz created the first automotive, tested by his wife in a 104 km ride from Mannheim to Pforzheim two years later. Also the first development of electric cars began here by Andreas Flocken at the end of the 19th century.

Mannheim was the home of the “Mannheim School” of classical music composers. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart for example stayed 176 days and composed some of his works here.
