Abstract:
A periodically loaded broadband leaky-wave antenna with a wide beam-scanning feature based on the composite right/left handed substrate integrated waveguide is proposed. The reported antenna presents expected broadband impedance matching with return loss of S11 , 10 dB from 11.7 to 17.7 GHz (41%). The measured radiation pattern exhibits continuous frequency-scanning from backward direction 2628 at 12 GHz to forward direction +338 at 17 GHz with the broadside radiation at 14 GHz. The simulated dispersion characteristics are compared with measured ones and the results exhibit the balanced composite right/left handed behaviour.
