Abstract:
Electromagnetic Bandgap (EBG) materials have found possible applications in antenna technology as substrates to leaky waves, so as to produce a narrow beam at broadside. The proposed new structure is planar and, in our analysis, it is excited by a transverse elementary dipole, though other excitations would lead to the same conclusions. We will show with our numerical results, obtained with CST Microwave Studio, some radiation patterns, the most significative, that demonstrate the presence of leaky-waves on the substrates and their behaviour changing geometrical parameters of the structure to improve performances.
