Modern communication systems are becoming increasingly demanding on the utilization of the frequency spectrum. In order to realize some of these stringent specifications microwave filters are typically required. Compactness and flexibility are some of the characteristics which multimode filters can offer; however, designing such 3D structures can be very difficult and time-consuming. CST STUDIO SUITE® offers a range of tools that can be used to assist in designing such high performance devices.

In this webinar a complete design workflow for multimode cavity filters will be presented. This will include the filter synthesis, 3D implementation and tuning, as well a thermal and mechanical analysis to understand how the filter performance might be affected by high power operation.

Theunis Beukman

Theunis Beukman received BEng, MScEng (cum laude) and PhD degrees in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa, in 2009, 2011 and 2015 respectively. During his Masters he worked on tunable wideband filters for the Square Kilometre Array (SKA) project and spent several months as a visiting researcher with the filter group at Heriot-Watt University. After finishing his PhD, he started working as an application engineer at CST AG in Darmstadt, Germany.
