The electrostatic solver can be applied to static and quasi-static problems such as high voltage devices, switchgear, transformer bushings, MEMS, X-Ray tubes, Capacitors, and charged particle devices (common solver to CST PARTICLE STUDIO®).
Both hexahedral and tetrahedral mesh types are supported in the Electrostatic Solver. This, as part of CST’s complete technology approach, allows the best mesh topology to be applied to the problem at hand. Automatic mesh adaption is available for both mesh types.
Various source types are available; fixed and floating potential, charges on metallic and dielectric objects. Open boundary conditions can also be used as well as the electric and magnetic open boundary conditions. Essential secondary quantities such as the capacitance matrix for multiple sources, force and torque are automatically provided.
