Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is an integral part of the development of any electronic device. By law,
products must comply with international EMC standards which regulate EM emissions and the susceptibility of
electrical and electronic systems in order to be sold. A successful product must strike a balance between EMC and
competing design requirements such as size, cost and performance, and this can pose major challenges to engineers.
The earlier a potential EMC problem is identified, the less disruption it causes to the design process. By including EMC
compliant design at an early stage, additional costly development iterations can be avoided later on. Simulation
using the CST EMC STUDIO® software package – a module of CST STUDIO SUITE® – allows problems to be
identified and corrected from the start of the design process before the first prototype is even built. The software
includes a range of solvers, ranging from PCB design rule checkers to full-wave 3D solvers to specialized cable and
PCB solvers, which can be linked and hybridized with the CST® System Assembly and Modeling (SAM) framework.
Electrical Fast Transient/Burst (EFT/B) Susceptibility of an LV Circuit Breaker
The coupled voltage at component level has been simulated using CST MICROWAVE STUDIO SUITE® for two PCB releases of the same Low Voltage Circuit Breaker (LV-CB) electronic control scheme. The results show a good agreement with actual measurements.
Electrical Performance of High Speed Signaling in Coupled Microstrip Lines
The electrical performance of high speed signaling in coupled differential microstrip lines is analyzed. Based on the modal decomposition analysis, the cancellation frequency in the single-ended insertion loss response is explained and a closed formula...
Crosstalk Effects of Shielded Twisted Pairs
This article deals with the modeling and simulation of shielded twisted pairs with CST CABLE STUDIO™. The quality of braided shields is investigated with respect to perfect solid shields. Crosstalk effects are calculated for unshielded twisted pairs,...
USB 3.1 Type-C Simulation and Compliance Test
USB 3.1 Type-C Connector Simulation and SI compliance tool.
With the continued adoption of USB interface, there is a need to adapt the USB technology with the newer devices as they become smaller, thinner, lighter and faster. Several types of USB connector...
Six-Pole Band-Pass Filter with Single Cross-Coupling
Tuning of a coupled-resonator filter is performed in this article by using the group delay response of the input reflection coefficient of sequentially tuned resonators containing all the information necessary to design and tune filters. To achieve high...
