Planar Strip Dipole

Image of the Planar (Strip) Dipole Image of the Planar (Strip) Dipole

The planar strip dipole is often used as an element for parallel arrays with corporate feeds. This particular coupling configuration yields maximum coupling, unlike that required for series arrays. Several configurations differing in the dipole location and in the amount of electric and magnetic coupling to the microstrip feed line yield different bandwidths, efficiencies and construction simplicity. The more efficient EMC dipole elements have the dipole located on a second PC board, Oltman, as is the case here.
