Supporting Future Aircraft Certifications with EM Simulations
Electromagnetic environments, such as high intensity radiated fields (HIRF) and lightning, can degenerate aircraft safe operation and even cause catastrophic effects if precautions aren't taken. The trend toward all-electric aircraft increases the number of aircraft functions performed by avionics. The risk of failure is even higher for modern aircraft with structures made of carbon-fiber composites (CFC).
